Returned to studying English for the first time since student days because a sales administration role at a parts manufacturer required reading emails from overseas. The difficulty of catching sentences in meetings, despite understanding them in writing, sparked an interest in the gap between written words and sound. The current routine is to listen to short audio clips during the commute and check only the parts that were unclear against the text. Likes dictionaries and small notes, and tends to be a little cautious.

Returned to English while working at a bookstore, hoping to enjoy favorite overseas dramas without relying too much on subtitles. The daily schedule changed between early and late shifts, and a plan to sit down at the same time every day did not last. The routine now is to listen to just one short scene between household tasks and keep each session small enough to return to after a day off. Likes walks and warm drinks, and takes a practical approach to finding small ways to keep going without strain.

Works in sales at a small home goods shop. Hearing travelers talk about a town at the shop sparked a wish to learn a little more about other people's stories in English. Even after getting used to solo speakers in learning materials, it is easy to lose the thread when conversations include rephrasing or brief responses from the listener. Chooses short conversations on interesting topics and listens while noting who is responding to what. Enjoys detours and the pauses between voices, and tends to take the listener's role.
